Good design manufacturing not that good (2/5) May 12, 2008 Scott Brand Gaithersburg MD US
I think the trailer is designed well but the parts that make up the trailer are of poor quality. The plastic fenders are thin and the electrical connectors used seem cheap. The one part that was actually dangerous was a metal wheel block lock. It broke when I tried to lock it in place. This is your insurance that the wheel assembly stays in place. I did notice that Rack and Roll had a major recall for the metal column that connects the trailer to the car. This is not a cheap item (over $2000 dollars). For that price it should definitely be made better. Also assembly instructions are poor. The instructions need more illustrations and diagrams. For example, the instructions for that wheel block lock, which the instructions say is critical, is not illustrated as to how the lock should be set in place.
Rack and Roll issues (2/5) Jun 3, 2008 Scott Brand Gaithersburg MD US
I bought this trailer because of its design. I can say it looks good but putting it together was difficult. The parts do not fit together and they seem flimsy. They need to strengthen the parts and work on the the fit of the pieces. Also, if you have an older model make sure you read about the recall on their web page, the main metal rail that connects to the car breaks. They will send you a patch kit. This recall should have been a heads up for me but I didn't pay attention.
