To the south of Desolation Sound is Savary Island only a short boat ride from Lund. Savary Island is a small picturesque island bounded by sandy beaches and warm water. Cortes Island, the most developed island in the area has some interesting places to explore, most notably Von Donop Inlet Provincial Park. To the south of Cortes Island is famous Mitlenatch Island Wildlife Sanctuary, a popular destination for bird watchers.
